An abused child and his/her family can find educational resources, support and help in connecting to other community services they need through the Children's Advocacy Center and can be assured that they will receive child-focused services in a child-friendly environment.
In 2001, the District Attorney, the Sheriff, the Director of the Escambia County Department of Human Resources, the Director of the Hope Place Family Resource Center, and the Chairman of the Escambia County Commission formed a team to discuss and begin development of the Escambia County Regional Child Advocacy Center. The Escambia County Regional Child Advocacy was founded in 2002 to facilitate and support the multidisciplinary team approach to the investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and neglect and to ensure that child victims and their non-offending families receive a wide range of services to meet their needs.
